8. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a web search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural”, “organic”, or “earned” results.
I will just discuss very basic things you need to do right after you make your website.
Set Up WordPress Permalinks
The very first thing you need to do is fix your link structure. A permanent static hyperlink to a particular web page or entry in a blog. For example, the permalink for this article is www.wpglorify.com/how-to-start-a-blog.
The default WordPress permalink is – http://example.com/p=123.
This permalink is short but not friendly for search engines and hard to remember. Let’s fix it
Go to Settings > Permalink and select “Post name.”
Submit Your Website to Search Engines
Submitting your site to search engine is an important step. To let search engines know that your site is ready to Index but please be careful and don’t hurry to submit your website until it’s ready.
From Ready I mean first, decide which pages you would like to keep on your website setup proper permalink structure.
Finalize if you want to keep your site with www or without www(there is no SEO advantage with any of them, but it’s important to be consistent as Google mention it depends on your preference).
Let’s say you have a page called ‘contact’ when you submit your website to Google, and later you decide to change the page name and slug(page link) to ‘contact us’. This will end up as an error in Google search console and Google will have difficulty to index that page.

If You are not familiar with the concept, Basically You show ads on your blog and when people visit your website you will make some money.
There are many types of advertising such as:
- Pay per click: When Someone Clicks On Ad you make money
- Cost Per Impression: You will get paid when someone visits your site, typically set amount for per 1000 visitors
- Sell your own advertising space: You sell your own ad space and rent a space on your website for set period of time
- Cost Per Action: This is highest paying ads but You will only get paid if someone clicks an ad and buys buy something or signup for service.
Google Adsense is one of the most popular ad networks out there. In fact, Google makes Billions of Dollars every year just from Advertising. If you show Google ads on your blog, you will get roughly 70% of share. One click on Add can be as high as $30 per click or sometimes only a few cents.
Depends On How Competitive Your Niche is.
Other Popular Ad networks are Media.net They provide ads through Bing and Yahoo. Media.net is also Pay Per Click Ad Network.
Affiliate marketing is different from Ads,
You get paid when you promote some product(or many products) and when people buy that product you will earn the certain percentage of the sale.
There is no one network to join. It really depends on your niche. For Example,
Amazon is great if you want to promote the range of products. You can sell anything From $5 ebook to $3000 sound System.
